As far as I can tell, it will only work if your old tubing is 1/4 in. Mine is 1/2 in. There were adapter fittings for the GXRTQR so I never had any problem with replacing it. I tried to do an install, thinking that the stub of a tube inside the fitting would marry, but it was too short, so I had to put the old filter back on. I have to either replace the tubes on fridge & at the faucet, or find another filter. |

I bought the GXRTDR in-line water filter as a replacement to the GXRTQR filter. What a huge mistake! The old filter had a very secure connection. The new GXRTDR has a "quick-connect" style connector. (Ideally, you cut the tube and just stick it in the connector, and it automatically locks in-place. The connector is a little like a "Chinese Finger Trap" where you stick your fingers in a woven bamboo cylinder and your fingers won't come out until you compress the weave.) Anyway, I've used quick-connectors at my work for many years and never had a problem, but I had never used this brand. I pulled the fridge out of its niche and followed the directions. I cut out my old filter hardware and installed the new filter. I let the water run to clear the initial carbon particles, and then I checked for leakage and the connectors seemed to be sealed. | Difficult to install. but works well Like the above poster I got this filter to replace my previous GXRTQR inline filter. My only complaint is that the outlet port for the water tubing was a pain in the neck to get to go up flush against the area it is supposed to. which resulted in water spurting everywhere. however once I got that in it worked fine. no leaks or antything of the sort |
