Rated best ceramic heater by Hammacher Schlemmer
I bought this space heater after searching for something to quickly heat up my bedroom in the winter, so I wasnt running the whole house heater all evening. I have had this for 5 months now and it has worked flawlessly! The remote is super handy as well. From the remote you can turn the power on, turn swivel off and on, increase the temp setting, and change the mode. Thats the other great thing - it has a mode that just blows air like a fan, a low heat setting and a high heat setting. It also has an eco setting, but Im not quite sure what that does. The ONLY drawback Id say for this, is that you cant sent the timer from the remote. You have to set the timer on the unit itself. The timer is great too, you can set it for 30 minute increments, up to several hours. Ive never tested it, but it also has a tip feature that shuts the machine down if it falls over. Sorry to disagree with the other reviews, but this heater has been great for me!

We live in an older house in Minnesota and in the winter, some parts of the home are definitely colder than others. We were on the lookout for a new heater to put in our basement level, so we decided to give the DeLonghi TCH7690ER Safeheat 1500W 28 In. Tower Ceramic Heater with Remote a try.

Here's what comes in the box:

-Heater unit
-remote control with 2 AAA batteries
-base/stand (comes in 2 parts)
-8 phillips head screws for securing base/stand to bottom of heater

Setup:

After you unbox everything, lay the heater on its side and click the base together around the bottom of the unit. Attach the base to the main heater unit with the 8 phillips screws (included). Route the power cord through the channel on the back underside of the base. Install the 2 AAA batters (included) in the remote.

The heater and remote have a similar button configuration. They are as follows:

Good, lightweight and compact small room heater
I have two quartz 'space' heaters already, both LifeSmart models - one a 1500W and another 1000W. They generally do a good job of heating a small to mid size room, making it comfortable on even the coldest nights. Both are also remote controlled, have a thermostat, and have eco settings to save power. I also have a few oil and dish heaters which work for spot heating, but are generally a different animal (and not really comparable to any of these).

This DeLonghi 1500W safeheat model is in a similar class to the IR space heaters. Loosely speaking, there's not much difference in heat output between a quartz and ceramic element- both work find and are about the same in terms of efficiency. The big difference is the form factor and added features. The DeLonghi model is also a room heater, though it relies less on its fan and more on a directly exposed, oscillating heat element. This has advantages and disadvantages over the quartz type devices:
