The design is simple and extremely easy to work on. Despite what I estimate to be thousands of hours of hard commercial use bearings, switches, and other components were still good on the old sanitaire. This is a heavy duty no frills vac. Because it has no hose attachments I use it in conjunction with a dust buster which makes an efficient combination. With simple maintenance this vac should last a lifetime.
