I got it pretty early. This is really just a rebranded nilfisk (they make great commercial vacs approved for lead abatement, asbestos, etc.) I got this primarily because it's somewhat quieter than equivalent vacs, it's a true hepa vac (not just a hepa filter - which you do have to buy separately though), the filters clean themselves automatically, it uses 2 stage filtration (bags), and it costs less than the nilfisk (which it's just a rebrand of). Most vacs lose a lot of power because the filters rapidly gunk up. As filters are used more and more, they actually increase in efficiency. If the filter is gunked up, less gets through. Unfortunately, that also means less air moves, and so the suction drops. There are, however, a few vacs on the market (this one, nilfisk, a dewalt, and a bosch that I know of) that have the ability to clean their own filters. You hear an odd thumping noise in the vac every 10 secs or so. It works quite... |

Jobsite research indicates that contractors clearly desire a jobsite vacuum that combines power with less noise and less weight with a smaller footprint, particularly for indoor and room-to-room applications. Makita responded with a vacuum motor chamber constructed of quality sound-absorbing materials, delivering an operating sound level of only 59 dB(A). In addition, precision lightweight motor components and more efficient air ducting allowed engineers to reduce the weight to only 27 lbs. For improved stability, the VC4710 has wide-set urethane rear wheels and enlarged steel caster front wheels to create a lower center of gravity for improved stability and easier movement.Great vac for flooring use! So, when I received this a while back to replace my broken 12 gal vac, I was planning to just use it with my grinder shrouds for corners, edges...places my walk behind machine can't reach. Two months later I'm now using it in place of my huge steel commercial vacs, attached to my flooring machines. The filter cleaning that it does, keeps the suction power way longer than anything I have used. Even when picking up slurry, which would kill my other vacs. Still using it every day with no problems. |
