It is hard to tell from the description, but this is actually a package of 3 filters. What seems a little expensive, is actually less expensive than the OEM alternative per unit. I always forget to soak these filters before installing due to the infrequent replacement cycle. The OEM unit works better after a pre-soak as well. If you do not pre-soak it, it sputters and is harder to shut off when you remove your drinking glass from the dispenser. This unit fits slightly more loosely in my Kenmore Elite (Part Number 46-9990) Fridge, but it works just fine. When I first installed it, I did get some charcoal residue, but just for one glass. Frankly, I think the water does taste better than the OEM unit. The OEM unit worked well in previous versions, but this seems to give a smoother finish to the water.
